Launched the Barco Hospital São João XXIII
It made its first expedition during this December the third boat in the Barco Hospital fleet. Thus begins with a result of more than 1,700 patients the solidarity adventure of the São João XXIII, which stands alongside the Papa Francisco and the San Juan Paulo II in their navigation along the Amazon River.
Earlier this month the ship’s inauguration, with a Mass of blessing presided over by Cardinal Leonardo Ulrich Steiner, archbishop of Manaus, formerly a friar minor, who thanked all“the generous hands that helped us in building this boat so that it can now serve our communities along the river.”
Fondazione OFM Fraternitas continues to support the efforts of the St. Francis of Assisi Fraternity in God’s Providence who carry out a project that has now become a symbol of protection for Amazonian indigenous communities and Creation.
