Palamaner Mission, India

Palamaner is a city of about 50,000 people in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Although not a true metropolis in size and population, Palamaner is characterized by suburbs where people live in misery and disease. These are places where leprosy is still a reality and social differences produce conditions of severe social marginality, the consequences of which affect the weakest: the sick, poor and children.

Help and hope, in the sign of St. Thomas the Apostle

The Province of St. Thomas the Apostle, and in particular the St. Louis fraternity, offers constant help to the people of Palamaner, regardless of ethnicity or religion.
The friars provide health care to leprosy patients, promote housing construction and distribute meals for the poorest families. They also strive to provide primary education for children, knowing that local development is rooted in education.
