A flood of historic proportions<\/h3>\n

In 2024, Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul was hit by historic flooding: between late April and early May, heavy rains caused rivers to overflow, devastating more than 400 municipalities. Porto Alegre and surrounding areas experienced water levels not seen since 1941. The event claimed more than 170 lives and over 2 million people affected, with hundreds of thousands displaced <\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
